"Culture Control Recap"

This event started as a grand opening for my friends at their newly opened shop, Paper Tiger Coffee Roasters, but evolved into an ambitious all day music/art festival of sorts. It turned into more of a referendum on Vancouver residents' need for cultural growth than anything else. The positive response and all day (12pm-11pm), shoulder to shoulder crowds were truly unexpected. I hope this is just the beginning of Vancouver's path towards taking ownership over it's creative scene. Info on next month's Culture Control @ Paper Tiger will be available at www.guerrilla-media.com soon, so be sure to start a profile up and get connected with other like-minded people in your community. The following is a recap of the day's events. Just click the play button on the soundwave below each musician's picture to hear audio of their set.

I wish I could have gone....but at the last moment I had to make the choice in spending my money for petrol so I could get to school the next week, or spending the money on going to this...Unfortunately I did the responsible thing and chose school. I hate being a grownup.

I had a great time. Paper Tiger is a perfect place to connect with friends and the coffee is terrific. Congrats to them for creating this spot to connect. Kudos to Olin and all for putting on a successful event. Last, thanks to all who came to pack the house.

I'd say keep working until you feel more confident in your final product. There is no point in taking something you aren't proud of to a gallery. There are a lot of ways to improve your work. Of course the main way is to practice. But here are so…

I'd say try the transfer method and see if you like it. And if you don't go for showing side by side.

You know the building - all red brick and glass panes on the east side of 1-5 at Fort Vancouver. Look here to refresh your memory: http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/photo785724.htm Now imagine if it was a public center for the arts. What do you see…
