Reports from David Wu's Tuesday Town Hall

via Derrick Duehren

Carla Axtman, BlueOregon
An excerpt from Another Wu Town Hall, Another Big Crowd

Congressman Wu held a Town Hall in NW Portland on Tuesday, Aug. 11. It was scheduled to begin at noon and run for 1 hour. So I figured I'd show up early. I got there at 10:45 a.m., and the line was all the way up one side of the block and half-way down the next side. I heard later… Continue

Time For Portland And Mayor Sam Adams To Move On

To the Editor:
The decision by the Oregon Attorney General not to prosecute Portland Mayor Sam Adams does not answer some of the questions at the heart of scandal.
All we know today that we didn’t know yesterday is that the mayor will not be charged with a crime in this affair. Mayor Adams has resisted calls for his resignation (including my own) since this matter first came to light in January and will likely see this report from the OAG as a pe… Continue

May Day rally

May Day in Portland drew a crowd of roughly 20,000 to march from the South Park Blocks around downtown.

CAUSA, Oregon's immigrants rights coalition, alone rallied 5,000 people from the Salem area to join Portlanders for the annual march.

Stating at 4 p.m., speakers from M.E.Ch.A. (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán), CAUSA, Jobs With Justice, and PCC spoke to an increasing crowd of activists, laborers, students, educators, and groups of families and supporters of human rights and equalit… Continue

Prop. 8 is ‘unconstitutional trash’

by Brittany Wilson
On March 5, the California Supreme Court heard oral arguments against the passing of Proposition 8 and now has 90 days to make a final decision. The 3-hour hearing covered a multitude of implications that ambiguous language within the proposition left up to interpretation.
The main argument the court referred to throughout the hearing was whether Prop. 8 was an amendment or a revision to the constitution. An amendment can pass by a simple majority vote, but a revision requires… Continue

Yeah the Powershot is a great camera. Rivals most pro SLR's in my opinion. Check out the CHDK firmware hack for canons. It's amazing what all these cameras can do. Shoot in RAW format, custom shooting scripts for anything from EV bracketing to high-…

Thanks! I actually shot this with a Canon Powershot A630, so no special lenses. But for a point-and-shoot it's got a ton of great features, like being able to manual focus as close as 1 cm from the lens.

This is really cool. What type of lens did you use? It looks almost microscopic.
