The Role of Titles in Art and Photography

I don't post pictures on my profile I am not perfectly satisfied with! Most of those pictures have had their periods of accepting advice. But thank you for the compliment.

I usually give my paintings simple titles at the end. When I am creating the work, I usually have a pretty complex goal, and titling worries me. I don't want to use the title as a crutch for somethin…

i don't care if art has a title or not. but i do think it is pretty lame when im looking at art and the title is ridiculously obvious. (a picture of a butterfly titled "Butterfly" does not fly with me) i guess that i like the seemingly random/irrele…

Ha ha thanks Sara for this one. I hate titling my work. Period. Usually I pick something random from the picture and use that but only on websites where there has to be a title, because kjhdg7f8687fhdkjhgfd looks rediculus and that's how my computer…

What role do you think titling a work plays in art and photography as the creator?Does it frustrate you to come up with a title? When do you title the work, at the beginning, middle or end of your process? As the viewer how do you feel about titles,…

Thank you for the comment on my painting. I intend on putting up more. Right now it's a matter of painting more things and seeing where I can publish my work and their policies before I post more.

I like your style, though, too. Beautiful work you have here!

Yeah the Powershot is a great camera. Rivals most pro SLR's in my opinion. Check out the CHDK firmware hack for canons. It's amazing what all these cameras can do. Shoot in RAW format, custom shooting scripts for anything from EV bracketing to high-…

Thanks! I actually shot this with a Canon Powershot A630, so no special lenses. But for a point-and-shoot it's got a ton of great features, like being able to manual focus as close as 1 cm from the lens.

This is really cool. What type of lens did you use? It looks almost microscopic.
