I think that painting injured and cut bodies can validly and authentically express the artists and the viewers experiences. It all depends on how it is executed. I have seen work that is opaque, there seems to be nothing behind the image, or when th…

Boys may be weird but girls are insane.... ;)

Boys aren't "wierd"...they are just hard-wired and then programed differently than those other models. They can't help it - its called "Nature". :)

My guess is that "shock and awe" are the intent - though blood and gore aren't exactly forbidden fruit anymore, as ImLooLoo says above. I'm also thinking that there is a gender factor here, too. "Boys being boys" for the most part, trying to freak o…

Hmmmm...interesting thought about urbanization and in realtion to that maybe it is a response to the sterilization and debodyification of our world. We do tend to put all body stuff (blood, guts, shit, puke) in a place away from us. So perhaps those…

I wonder if urbanization has added to the fascination with guts and gore. "Back in the Day" when most people lived on farms where they experienced a hog's butchering a couple of times a year, or a chicken for dinner every Sunday, I would be surprise…

Guts and gore do not seem to me to be a link to reality or mortality. Maybe they represent horror or terror, but not reality. Experiences with blood and guts are usually characterized as surreal, the trauma dazes. But since most people encounter gut…

I didn't realize I was inspiring; I've been quick with the pen since we last spoke as well. A wonderful encounter. I'm sure we will be bumping into each other soon, it really was a pleasure to chat, I look forward to the next one.

Yeah the Powershot is a great camera. Rivals most pro SLR's in my opinion. Check out the CHDK firmware hack for canons. It's amazing what all these cameras can do. Shoot in RAW format, custom shooting scripts for anything from EV bracketing to high-…

Thanks! I actually shot this with a Canon Powershot A630, so no special lenses. But for a point-and-shoot it's got a ton of great features, like being able to manual focus as close as 1 cm from the lens.
