Writing is my preferred outlet of expression,
but this site seems to be more geared toward painters and musicians,
is there place for a poet here?

Hell yeah it does!
The poets are here my friends, what was it Luna said? "You've found us"
The writers and visual artists (I'm both) share a common bond in the pursuit of representation. We are of a common thread. I believe

You can put your poetry up in blog form, ideally with lots of pictures. I might be able to feature it occasionally. Or coordinate some video or audio of you reading your poetry.

Get creative with your presentation, the more eye catching and engaging your web feature is...the more ppl will be reading your stuff. The biggest problem that I've found with featuring poetry on the main page is the lack of pictures, audio, video in the blog....it's always just words....people so rarely have the patience to check it out if it's just a wall of txt.

Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks for the advise on that.
But I don't think I will be posting my work on this site,
I think I will just it as medium between artists I know.

The problem I have with posting poetry in blog form is that I can not make indents -- which is my solution for the need of visual stimulation.

Lol, its funny how visually focused people might get bored by the written word, but I am getting more used to reading poetry and I am learning that it is really exciting and has its own way and own medium that does things that art doesn't and of course visa versa. I love poetry and I think this is a great place to network.

Yeah the Powershot is a great camera. Rivals most pro SLR's in my opinion. Check out the CHDK firmware hack for canons. It's amazing what all these cameras can do. Shoot in RAW format, custom shooting scripts for anything from EV bracketing to high-…

Thanks! I actually shot this with a Canon Powershot A630, so no special lenses. But for a point-and-shoot it's got a ton of great features, like being able to manual focus as close as 1 cm from the lens.

This is really cool. What type of lens did you use? It looks almost microscopic.
